Now, almost on the eve of a trip to Nicaragua. Very nervous...seems the older I get, the harder it is to fake adventurousness. Hope to post while there, though, but if not, when I return. Although it seems to take me months to compose something. Life gets in the way.

Returned months ago, but haven't taken the time to post anything. So, until I can sit down and compose my thoughts, I'll attach a few photos of the trip instead. First, is my brother-in-law Forrest, aka Wally, aka "Señor Bosque" (will explain later) comparing grins with the Tipitapa fish - a popular dish that our cousin Javier told us we had to try, and did, during our lunch together in Granada.

And then a few of the one adventure that had to be included while in Nicaragua (surprising that Wally was only able to fit in one. He wasn't able to convince my sister Pat to come along. I was up for it the whole time, but he did have to do some convincing of Aura, our Spanish teacher. What a sport! She didn't know of any other Nicaraguans who had done "volcano boarding." Of course, the idea was dreamed up by a crazy foreigner, who tried a number of modes to get down the volcano, including a bed mattress, before he finally came up with this toboggan-type board. Believe me goggles are imperative as is the prison-colored jumpsuit. As it is, I ended up with grit in my mouth, volcanic ash dirt all through my hair, covering face, ears...BUT, it was worth it!! My only regret - why didn't I got faster? (I chickened out on the steepest part and put on the brakes-accomplished by bringing my legs down and putting the feet along either side of toboggan.)

| Stylin'! Am I ready for prison? the chemistry lab? or...boarding down a volcano! |

| Whee! |
 |
| Oh, crap! (Yes, this is about when I put the brakes on.) |
